Charles Robinson, Jory Epstein and Charles McDonald give their analyzes on the latest news about the NFL — including the Washington captains naming Sam Howell as their starter — and offer up the biggest takeaways from New York Jets training camp after their visit last week. The trio closed the show with their biggest points so far this pre-season: Gorey’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB, Charles Robinson’s offensive line problem about the NFL and Charles McDonald’s Carolina Panthers and whether or not they can protect Bryce Young. .

4:25 – Sam Howell has been named the starting quarterback for the Leaders, and while Robinson would love the move, McDonald doesn’t see how Howell is a better option than Jacoby Brissett. Charles debates which QB is the better option in the long term and in the short term.

20:10 – Jets training camp recap: Gorey was concerned about Dalvin Cook’s lack of energy in his first press conference as a Jet, while McDonald was concerned about their situation at offensive tackle, specifically how they plan to make the most of Mickey Picton this season.

29:40 – Preseason Takeaway: Charles Robinson thinks the NFL has a problem with the offensive line. Few prospects come out of college ready to pass protection in the NFL, and they place great importance on a good coaching. McDonald offers his thoughts on what has changed in recent years to cause this problem.

44:50 – Gorey wonders if it’s time to worry that the Pirates haven’t yet named their starting QB between Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask. There is no indication that a decision has been made, although the players have expressed their frustration. It’s important for the beginning of the offenses to have time to get on the same page – it’s strange that it takes that long.

53:05 – C Mac doesn’t like what he’s seen from the Panthers offensive line yet, and wonders if they’ll be able to protect their rookie, Bryce Young. Young is already undersized for the position, and Carolina just doesn’t have the weapons in the skill positions to make up for their pass-blocking shortcomings.
